121st Post Jesus on Bearing Fruit Con't. - Matthew 12: 33 - 35.

Matthew 12: 33 - 35; Luke 6: 45.
Either make a tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
This passage is taken from chapter 12 of Matthew, and is two years into His earthly ministry. This goes along with Jesus parable of the seeds, in that parable Jesus said that the sower threw the seeds and fell on all sorts of different kinds of soil. The teaching of that parable was to show you which type of soil you are and if you did not like your type, you could go about changing it for the better. This is what Jesus meant when He said "Either make the tree good, or make it evil," but you have to make a decision; a tree can not produce good and bad fruit. Jesus called the Pharisees, the brood of vipers. Jesus did this, because they had the teachings of Moses handed down from God; but they have interpreted them according to their own understanding, and not God's. Moses and Jesus taught the exact same thing; if the Temple leaders were teaching these words the way God intended, they would have recognized Jesus as the Son of God and their Messiah. The lessons are the same today as they were then. You must make the decision, is Jesus really Who He said He was?? Only you can answer that for yourself.
