236th Post Jesus Said on Proper Role of the Law Con't. - Matthew 5: 17 - 20

Matthew 5: 17-20; Luke 16:17 Taken from Jesus Sermon on the Mount.
Do not think I come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 years into His earthly ministry. Jesus in His usual way, said a great deal with out wasting a lot of words. New Testament Christians, need to look at this passage very carefully. Out of Jesus own mouth, He tells you the importance of not only knowing, but keeping the Old Testament Laws and Prophets. Then Jesus goes on to say that you must be more righteous than the scribes or Pharisees, if you plan to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus continues, by saying if you do and teach others to do the same, you will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is telling us that we have to be more righteous and teach others to be more righteous in order to receive the kingdom of heaven. This is no small order. These are not my words but Jesus.
