88th Post Jesus On Pre-Eminence of God Con't - Matthew 4:7; Luke 4:12

Matthew 4: 7; Luke 4: 12 It is written again, "you should not temp the Lord your God."
This passage is from the time Jesus is in the wilderness continued. This time Satan came to Jesus and took him to the holy city (Jerusalem) and set him on the pinnacle of the temple. The pinnacle was the highest point on the Temple roof. Satan said to Jesus : if you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "He will command his angels concerning you', and "'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'" Satan was trying to quote Psalm 91:11,12. This is how the verse actually reads : "For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12 "On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone." You see Satan knows the Scriptures, but he does not quote it exactly. This is why you have to know the word of God yourself. God can not lie, and Satan is the father of lies; you can use this truth to help unmask Satan. Again Jesus uses God's Word to turn Satan away. This is our model, learn God's Word so that Satan can not misquote it to lead you astray. This is very important.
