281st Post Jesus Said on the Kingdom of God Con't. - Mark 9: 39 -40

Mark 9: 39 -40; Matthew 12: 30; Luke 9:50, 11:23
Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. For he who is not against us is on our side.
This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 to two years into His earthly Ministry. This is a difficult passage for us to understand and has been miss taught in the past. John comes up to Jesus to tell Him that someone was working miracles in Jesus name, who was not a disciple. John went on to say that he asked the man to stop but could not make him. This was spoken by Jesus right after His talk about the devil would not cast himself out, so Jesus could not be working on behalf of the devil. This was spoken by Jesus in response the Pharisees claim that Jesus was casting out demons in the name of Beelzebul. This passage should go hand in hand with "Lord, did we not cast out demons in your name?" Notice Jesus says "for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me." This shows that a person could be able to do these things, and then sometime later stop walking with God or Jesus. Apostasy is a real situation, and the Bible teaches about it. Saying that this can not happen is not the truth as far as the Bible teaches. If you are working the will of the Lord, you may ask God to perform miracles through you. You have to be connected to the vine in order to do this. This is clearly taught in John Chapter 15.
