Luke 11: 52
Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.
This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 years into His earthly ministry. Read this passage carefully, Jesus is making His strongest rebuke yet. He is exposing the religious system for knowing the truth, and yet leading the people in the opposite direction, because of their unwillingness to do what is right in the sight of God. Notice Jesus said that they did not enter themselves; and they became a stumbling block to others whom they were teaching. This is the cost of hypocrisy. We are being taught to speak of Christian values, but not so much about actually living what we speak. Jesus tells us to expose evil by examining their fruits. We also have to have our actions match what we teach. We call ourselves a Christian nation, but look at what we are allowing to be done in this nation and our Churches. We will be held accountable by God for this. Contrary to popular belief, revival starts with us, not others. For revival to happen, we need to confess our sins and repent and pray, and God will hear from Heaven and heal our land. We need to make sure we are leading in the right direction, and not hindering others looking to us for direction.
