380th Post Jesus On Laments for the Cities of Israel Con't. - Luke 19: 42 - 44.

Luke 19: 42 - 44.
If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.
This was spoken by Jesus near the very end of His earthly ministry. Jesus had just come into the City of Jerusalem, He had gone into the temple and had been rejected by the Religious Leaders. This is why Jesus starts this passage with the phrase "If you had known." They had rejected the Messiah, the Prince of Peace, and the Son of God! The Religious Leaders had no idea what they had just done. They had fulfilled the prophecy of Daniel, which said that Messiah would be rejected, and then cut off. (Daniel 9: 26). This set up the destruction of the Temple, that will be fulfilled by Rome in 70 A.D.. This prophecy by Jesus is like an eyewitness account, spoken almost 40 years before the fact. Of course this pales with the prophecy of Daniel spoken more than 600 years before the fact. No other book is as accurate as the Bible. God's Word is True!
