Luke 16: 15 - 17, Matthew 5: 18, 11: 12 - 13.
You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fall.
This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 years into His earthly ministry. We tend to think that Jesus was only talking to the religious leaders of His day. If you read this text you will notice Jesus said that heaven and earth will pass away easier than one tittle of the law to fall. It is strange that Jesus would say that, He being God would know the end of the world would not come till these people He was talking to were long dead. This begs the question, why did He say that? The only answer that makes sense, is to provide us with the understanding that the way the Religious leaders (of His day) were teaching us is wrong and we need to pay more attention to what Jesus Said. This is the point of this study. To follow God, you must humble yourself, repent and take up your cross and follow Jesus. Jesus is a hard act to follow, but that is what He requires of us. Look at your life. Who is getting the Glory? You or God? There is still time to make things right. It is up to you.
