502nd Post Jesus Parables Con't. - Parable of the Sower Con't. - Matthew 13: 18 - 22; Jesus' Explanation of Parable.

Matthew 13: 18 - 22; Mark 4: 13 - 20; Luke 8: 11 - 15. Jesus' Explanation.
Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches it away what was sown in his heart.  This is he who received the seed by the wayside.  But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while.  For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.  Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.  But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
This was the explanation given by Jesus for the parable of the sower.  This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 years into His earthly Ministry.

501st Post Jesus Parables Con't. - Parable of the Sower - Matthew 13: 3 - 9.

Matthew 13: 3 - 9; Mark 4: 3 - 9; Luke 8: 5 - 8. Parable of the Sower, 1st Post.
Behold, a sower went out to sow.  And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside;  and the birds came and devoured them.  Some fell on stoney places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they have no depth of earth.  But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.  And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and chocked them.  But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty.  He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 years into His earthly ministry.  The Sower is Jesus, the seed is the Word of God, the birds represent Satan.  The different places mentioned where the seed fell is the condition of the soil, meaning not all soil has been prepared to accept the seed.  And the seed fails, because of the soil it is placed in.  The good soil produces some a hundred fold, some sixty and some thirty.  Then Jesus ends this parable with "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."  When Jesus said the words, "He who has ears...", means that what he had just said is quite important, and don't miss it.

500th Post Jesus Parables Con't. The New and Old Wineskins Con't. - What does this mean in Context?

Jesus was calling Levi (Matthew) as one His disciples.  John the Baptist's disciples have just confronted Jesus about fasting.  There were Pharisees also in attendance at this time.  Jesus tells the parable of the New and Old Wineskins, as a way to contrast the different beliefs of John the Baptist's disciples and the Pharisees.  John the Baptist was being held prisoner in King Herod's palace at this time.  Both John the Baptist and his disciples and the Pharisee's represent the old understanding of religious things  Jesus was offering the same message that Moses had given to the Children of Israel, but the Pharisees had studied and learned on their own understanding.  John the Baptist and his disciples have not received the whole story yet.  This was the reason for their disconnect.  Jesus was trying to tell this crowd that His message is different and new and needs to be stretched and pulled to be able to understand it.  This is part of the renewing of your mind the Apostle Paul talks about in Chapter 12 of Romans.  The old way was to react to the religious teaching, Jesus was asking His follower's to try to live the teaching.  This is new.

499th Post Jesus Parables Con't. - The New & Old Wineskins - Luke 5: 36 - 39.

Luke 5: 36 - 39; Matthew 9: 16 - 17; Mark 2: 21 - 22. The New & The Old Wineskins.
No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one;  otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old.  And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.  But new wine must be put into new wineskins and both are preserved.  And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, "The old is better."
Jesus spoke these words about 1.1/2 years into His earthly Ministry.  The first story was about patching a garment.  You are to use a piece of cloth from an older garment because it has already shrunk and faded, making the match of the patch closer to the garment being patched.  If you use a new patch, the new patch will shrink and tear the old garment being repaired.  The wineskins need to be new for new wine, because the new wine has to work, during the fermentation process.  The Old wineskins have already survived one new wine and is not strong enough to survive the fermentation process again.  You will not drink new wine right after you have drunk Old Wine, because the new wine has not become wine yet.  New wine is grape juice.

498th Post Jesus Said - Parables - New Section - My Comments.

Jesus' Parables:  This is a new section of our study.  It was prophesied that Jesus would speak in parables.  We are told that without proper interpretation, we can not understand them.  I believe a lot of the trouble we have in understanding them is that you need to remember that when Jesus walked the earth, most people lived off the land. We who live in large cities, believe that eggs, milk, meat and vegetables come from the market.  People who live in the country know better.  They know eggs come from chickens, milk from cows, and vegetables have to be planted and harvested in their proper season, and all this takes time before you would see it on a market shelf.  This is one problem we have in looking at Jesus' Parables.  We also need a working Biblical knowledge of the history of Israel.  Some of Jesus' Parables dealt with this subject.  I am not sure how the finished section of the Parables will look like.  I am going to start to explain the parables, as they are found, first.  I may have to also explain the context in which Jesus spoke them.  I am looking forward to this study and hope you will find it helpful.

497th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various Other Predictions Con't. - John 21: 18.

John 21: 18
Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.
This was spoken by Jesus after He had risen from the dead, and appeared to the disciples by the Sea of Galilee (Tiberias).  Jesus had just asked Peter three times if "he loved Him."  Jesus tells Peter that when he gets old, he will be led to a place where he (Peter) doesn't want to go.  This was a prophecy of Peter's martyrdom.  Most people when given bad news like this will take time to reflect on the news, but not Peter!  He immediately asks Jesus about the fate of another disciple.  Jesus replies, "If I decide to keep him alive until I come again, what is that to you??"  That disciple was John.

496th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning Various Other Predictions Con't. - John 13: 38.

John 13: 38
Will you lay down your life for My sake?  Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.
This was spoken by Jesus the night of His betrayal in the upper room during the Passover Feast.  This was spoken not long after Jesus made the statement that "one of you would betray Him this night."  Peter as usual, had made a very strong statement about "he would never betray Jesus."  How much like Peter, are we?  Jesus tells us that we are weak, and we argue with Him, about how strong we are.  And then, when the chips are down, and we need to remain strong, we cave.  This happens more often than not.  The reason it happens, is because we try to do things in our own strength first, then when that fails, we call on God for help.  We need to understand, that when Peter denied Jesus those three times, he was just as guilty as Judas, the betrayer was.  Why is it, Peter was restored and Judas was not.  This is a good question, and needs to be understood.  Judas is in Hell, not because he committed suicide, but that he died before repenting of his sin!  Judas was full of remorse when he threw the money back at the high priests, but he did not ask God for forgiveness.  This is the reason Judas is in hell.

495th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various other Predictions Con't. - Luke 23: 28 - 31.

Luke 23: 28 - 31.
Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, "Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!" Then they will begin to say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!" For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?
This was spoken by Jesus on the way that leads to Golgotha, the day of His crucifixion. The women of Jerusalem were weeping for Jesus, as He was on His way to die. Jesus tells the women not to weep for Him, but to weep for themselves. Jesus was looking 40 years into the future, when Titus and the Roman Army would destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. When Jesus made the statement that they would begin to say to the mountains "Fall on us!" and to the hills "Cover us!", this is to remind the people of Jerusalem that they have come under siege before and will again; because of their unbelief. Jerusalem becomes the thing she hates worse, during sieges, food becomes very scarce, and they will eat what the abhor to stay alive. It is in this despair that the phrases will be uttered that are mentioned above about mountains falling and hills covering. God loves Jerusalem, and will deal with it in His Time and in His way. It will be interesting to see how everything will play out. No matter what happens, God is still on the Throne!

494th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various Other Predictions Con't. - Luke 22: 31 - 32, 34.

Luke 22: 31 - 32, 34; Matthew 26: 34; Mark 14: 30.
Simon, Simon!  Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.  But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.  I tell you Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.
This was spoken by Jesus on the night of His betrayal, just hours before it would come true.  Notice that Jesus calls this disciple by both of his names.  The Bible does this a lot, to help us understand the situation.  When the Bible calls this disciple as "Simon", this disciple is doing something or going to do something contrary to the will of God.  When this disciple remembers who he follows, his name changes to "Peter" (the rock).  Notice Jesus warns this disciple that he will make some bad decisions, but he will return to the Lord again.  When this happens Peter is asked to strengthen the brethren.  Notice that Peter sinned, but then was reinstated, as if he never left the fellowship.  This is a very hard teaching for us, as Christians, we are taught to forgive, but it is very hard to practice it.

493rd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various Predictions Con't. - Luke 22: 10 - 12 Con't.

Luke 22: 10 - 12; Matthew 26: 18; Mark 14: 13 - 15;   2nd Post.
Look at the detail of Jesus' prediction.  All of the elements of this prediction came to pass exactly as Jesus had foretold.  It is interesting to see the amount of detail in this prediction, but we can not find the upper room today based solely on this prediction.  Jerusalem had many gates, and many levels in which to enter the city.  Jesus would have had to be close to the one entrance gate to the City of Jerusalem before He made this prediction.  Whose house it was that contained the upper room has also been the subject of much controversy.  Tradition has it that the house belonged to John Mark's parents.  John Mark, although too young to be one of Jesus' disciples wrote a Gospel, you would know it as the Gospel of Mark.  Peter gave Mark most of the information contained in that Gospel.  Jesus tells the disciples where the room would be located in the house.  How large the room will be, and even if it will be furnished or not.  When God does something, it is always more and greater than what was required.  This is another way to know if something is from God or not.

492nd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning Various other Predictions Con't. - Luke 22: 10 - 12.

Luke 22: 10 - 12; Matthew 26: 18; Mark 14: 13 - 15,
Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water;  follow him into the house which he enters.  Then you shall say to the master of the house, "The Teacher says to you, 'Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?'  Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready."
This was spoken by Jesus the day of His betrayal, before He was to eat the Last Supper with His disciples.  Most of the predictions we will be looking at in this section, have come to pass very soon after they were predicted.  To be a true Biblical Prophet, you have to have some predictions come to pass soon after they were predicted, others take a longer time to come to pass, and still others take a real long time to come to pass.  Jesus predictions fit all of these criteria.  I have laid the background for this passage, but have run out of room so will continue next post.

491st Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various Other Predictions Con't. - Matthew 21: 2 - 3.

Matthew 21: 2 - 3; Mark 11: 2 - 3; Luke 19: 29 - 30.
Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her.  Loose them and bring them to Me.  And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, "The Lord has need of them," and immediately he will send them.
This was spoken by Jesus on Palm Sunday, less than one week before His crucifixion.  It was prophesied in the Old Testament that the Messiah would enter Jerusalem riding on a foal (colt) of a donkey. (Zechariah 9: 9).  Even the Triumphal Entry was prophesied in the Old Testament (Daniel 10: 24 - 28).  Verse 26 of Daniel says that the anointed one would be cut off, and shall have nothing.  God is showing the world that He has control over time and matter.  He is the Only God that is tied to History.  The more historians dig in the earth, the more the Bible is proved.  What do you believe??  Jesus Is Lord!!  Praise God!!

490th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various Other Predictions Jesus Made - New Section - My Comments.

We have been looking at several types of Predictions Jesus made during His Earthly Ministry, some came to pass not long after He said them.  Others took a little longer to come true; and still others have yet to come true.  The Bible is the Word of God, and as such, the Bible can not lie, can not contradict itself, and all predictions made will come to pass.  We may not be able to say when exactly they will come to pass.  But we know if the Bible says it, "It Will Happen!"  Jesus Himself said in His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5: 17 & 18).  "I did not come to do away with the Law and the Prophets, but fulfill."  If you have been reading this blog for any length of time you know this is one of my favorite verses to prove the fulfillment of prophecy completely.  This truth sets Bible prophecy above all other forms of prophecy out there.  I hope that this study of Jesus Words, has proven that Jesus is 'Who He Said He Is" and "He Will Do All that He Said He would Do."  Read the following posts and decide for yourself.

489th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning His Coming in Glory Con't. - John 14: 1 - 4 - 2nd Post.

John 14: 1 - 4.  Second Post.
We were talking about the word mansions used in the text.  The word Jesus used for mansions was the same one used to name the storage rooms in the Temple.  I don't believe Jesus was saying that we would be kept in storage rooms as such, but Jesus was referring to the safety of those places.  These rooms are located within the Temple in an area that only the Priests could have access to.  You have to remember that when Jesus spoke these words, the Roman Army could enter any house at any time, because Israel was under marshal law.  The world can be a very dangerous place, for believer's and will continue to get worse before the end comes and Christ returns for us.  Christianity is the only religion that proves if you believe, and walk in Jesus commands, you will be saved.  No doubt here where you will end up.  Christians who know and understand this have discovered the joy of being a follower of Jesus Christ.  Where do you stand on this issue??  Believe!!  Or still on the fence??  Where you end up is up to you!!

488th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning His Coming in Glory Con't. - John 14: 1 - 4.

John 14: 1 - 4.
Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way you know.
This was spoken by Jesus the night of His betrayal in the upper room.  This should be one of a Christian's favorite verses in the Bible.  Very clearly Jesus tells His believer's where they will spend eternity, when they die. Jesus makes it very clear, that we will be with Him in Heaven.  What is meant by "mansions"?  This word in English conjurers up visions of  lavish estates on a street with fine trimmed lawns.  God being God, could do this with out any trouble.  But is this what Jesus meant when He used the word (meno, or mene).  The Strong's number is (3438, 3306).  The word seems to mean safe and protected, and long term, in its meaning.
Will continue next post.

487th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning His Coming in Glory Con't. - John 1: 51

John 1: 51.
Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.
This was spoken by Jesus at the very beginning of His earthly Ministry.  If you know the Old Testament, you might remember, the story about Jacob and a dream he had at a place he named Bethel after the dream.  In Jacob's dream he saw a stairway (ladder) that went between Heaven and Earth, and he saw angels ascending and descending on this stairway (ladder). Genesis 28: 10- 19.  Jesus was prophesying that during His ministry, people will see great things and hear powerful teaching.  Jesus is what the stairway (ladder) portrayed.  Jesus would be the intercessor between God and man.  If you don't know the story in Genesis, you might read it or reread it again.  This passage is very profound on several levels.  I hope you are enjoying this study, and that it is deepening or strengthening your belief that Jesus is the Christ and the Messiah, and Lord God!

486th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Made Concerning His Coming in Glory Con't. - Luke 22: 15 - 18.

Luke 22: 15 - 18; Matthew 26: 29; Mark 14: 25.
With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. Take this [cup] and divide it among yourselves; for I say to you , I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.
This was spoken by Jesus on the night of His betrayal in the upper room where the Passover feast was eaten. This particular feast, must have been real special for Jesus, because He was going to become the Passover Lamb, that Moses' feast was pointing to. The Passover feast the disciples ate that night is the same feast the Jews, still eat at Passover. Just like on the first Passover, the blood of the lamb, would save the believer's from death. In the time of Moses, it protected the Jews from the angel of death for one night. In Jesus' case, this would protect all who believe from eternal death. This is why, Jesus told His disciples to practice this until He comes. We are never to forget the gift, and the payment made for that gift. Jews who practice Passover, will be familiar with those two words "gift" and "payment" made for that gift. It is part of their traditional Passover meal. The "gift" is symbolized by the "Afiikomen", the payment is symbolized by the price paid by the Father of the meal, in order to get the "Afikomen" back; the Father needs to get the "Afikomen" back in order to finish the Passover ceremony. The Grandfather at the table sets the price of the return of the gift. See the symbolism here? The Grandfather being the Father of the leader of the feast. See Jewish Passover points to Jesus Christ. There are many more ways this is shown in that traditional Feast. Jesus death paid the price of our sin owed to God for our disobedience, the gift is that he paid the price we were supposed to pay. Praise God!!

485th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions concerning His Coming in Glory - Matthew 16: 27 - 28. 3.

Matthew 16: 27 - 28; Mark 9: 1; Luke 9: 27.
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.
This was spoken by Jesus about 1.1/2 years into His earthly ministry. Jesus spoke these shortly before Jesus' Transfiguration. It is a matter of debate exactly what time Jesus was referring to when He said, "there are some of you standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." You could make a case for the Transfiguration, except only a small number of disciples were allowed to witness this happening. I don't believe Jesus was talking about His Second Coming, because that would make the disciples over 2,000 years old. Jesus would come into His Glory when He defeats death by Rising from the Dead on Easter. Jesus would ascend into Heaven 40 days after Jesus rose from the dead. The disciples and some other followers were allowed to witness this event. This is what I believe He meant when He said that some would not taste death until the Lord Ascended into Heaven from the Mount of Olives. Angels will tell the disciples that Jesus would return, the same way He left, when Jesus ascends into Heaven.

484th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions concerning His Coming in Glory - New Section - My Comments.

Jesus told His disciples that He would return, and some of the things that would take place before and during this event.  Jesus made a lot of predictions during His earthly ministry.  Some have already come to pass; this should give credit to His authority to predict the future.  One of the biggest predictions that Jesus made that has already come true is the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. (Anno Domini).  Jesus predicted that would happen 40 years before it actually happened.  The disciples scoffed, when Jesus made that prediction,  Jesus told them that so complete would be the destruction of the Temple that not one stone would be left on top of another.  As sure as this has come to pass, so will all the rest of Jesus' Predictions.  Only God could be so accurate in His predictions.  This will be another way, you will be sure that Jesus Is Who He Said He Was!  I hope this blog will show you that Jesus is the Christ, The Messiah!  As the time for His Return, comes closer, more and more of Jesus Predictions will become true, so by the time Jesus Comes again, there will be no doubt as to Who He Is.  At the mention of His Name, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, that Jesus is Lord!!

483rd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Acts 1: 7.

Acts 1: 7
It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.
This was spoken by Jesus, but documented in Acts by Luke, the writer of Acts.  We can never fully understand the meaning of this statement made by Jesus.  In order to fully understand, we would need a better understanding concerning the nature of the Trinity.  Who can fully understand Three Persons, and One God.  The Bible introduces to its readers, the different Persons that make up the Trinity.  Father, Son and Holy Spirit, these are different personalities, but One God.  The Old Testament primarily talks about God the Father, and the New Testament starts talking about Jesus the Son of God; and then in Acts through the end of the New Testament talks about the Holy Spirit and all Three.  We feel that Jesus, being God, would know all the rest of what the Trinity does.  Jesus says that this is not so, we can not understand it, but believe if Jesus says it is so.  It is so!

482nd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Luke 21: 34 - 36 Con't.

Luke 21: 34 - 36 Continued Second Post on this passage.
Jesus is continuing to tell His disciples concerning End Times.  Jesus was telling His disciples that at the time winding down to His Second Coming, it will be harder and harder to stay focused on being a Christian.  Being a Christian is more, than just studying about Jesus in Church once a week, or maybe a Prayer Meeting or a Bible study during the week.  These are things we should do, but these alone won't get you into heaven.  Jesus wants a personal relationship with you.  He wants you to try to live your life like Him.  Use His life as a model and try to treat everyone like Jesus treated them.  We are called to take off the attributes of the world, and put on Jesus' attributes.  When we die, we will look the most like Christ, we can be until, Jesus finishes the work He has started in us.  We have been looking at Jesus' Ministry through this blog, so far there are 482 posts.  If you have been reading these posts, you should be getting a better idea of who Jesus was, and how and what He taught.  Jesus calls on us to remain steadfast in Him through word, thought and deed, until He returns.

481st Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Luke 21: 34 - 36.

Luke 21: 34 - 36.
But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.  For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.  Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.
This was spoken by Jesus toward the end of His earthly ministry.  Jesus is continuing to tell the disciples about End Times.  Jesus has already mentioned other signs that will come to pass before all things are fulfilled.  In this passage, it sounds like the "End Times" are to come unexpectedly, without notice.  This is not the case, Jesus was telling the disciples, these are the signs of that which will come, but not in order.  This is why Jesus said to watch for the signs, and be ready accordingly.  Now that we have prepared the background for understanding this passage, we will continue to explain the passage in following posts.  Stay tuned.

480th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Made Concerning End Times Con't. - Luke 21:24.

Luke 21: 24
And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
This was spoken by Jesus toward the end of His earthly ministry.  Jesus was walking the earth during this time of the Gentiles.  This brings up the question, when did the time of the Gentiles start?  When Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple, this was the start of the time of the Gentiles.  Jerusalem is still under the time of the Gentiles.  This has been the situation in Jerusalem since 686 B.C.  Jerusalem has been under Gentile control for so long, that many do not believe this situation will ever change.  Jesus prophesied that the time of the Gentiles control in Jerusalem, would come to an end.  But when and how will this happen?  Jesus in Chapter 24 of Matthew said "That when you see the "Abomination of Desolation" standing in the Holy Place let the reader know and understand."  As mentioned in earlier posts, this passage refers to the anti-christ, that will come and declare "he is god"!  When that happens the scales that have been covering the Jewish eyes since the time of the prophet Isaiah, will fall and the people will see things clearly.  This will set up the battle of Armageddon.  This will end the time of the Gentiles.

479th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 45- 51 Con't.

Matthew 24: 45 - 51; Luke 12: 42 - 48; Continued 5th Post on this passage.
The last part of this passage deals with the punishment to be given out for not complying to the full extent of the task given.  There are two types of punishment given out.  The unfaithful steward is treated as a nonbeliever and the steward who was not proficient in his task because of lack of knowledge will receive few stripes.  The steward that knew, and yet did not comply will be beaten with many stripes.  Look at this passage carefully, there are three punishments given to the ones that do not comply.  The First: "And will cut him in two and appoint his portion with the unbelievers."  Second: "And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes."  Third: But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving many stripes, shall be beaten with few.  To whom much is given much is required.  I believe I am finally finished with this passage.

478th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Mathhew 24: 45 - 51 Con't.

Matthew 24: 45 - 51; Luke 12: 42 - 48; Continued 4th post on this Passage.
Look at the change in behavior of the second steward, after he decided that the master was not coming for a while, he started to relax and started to drink excessively, mistreat the servants he had under him, and not work diligently on the task he was given.  As Christians, we are to study our Bibles, meditate on the passages, pray often, and keep watch on our weaker brothers and sisters,  help them whenever possible, and not take advantage of them.  How many of us can say we have fulfilled all those obligations to the fullest.  This is the task Jesus has commanded of us.  If you are honest with yourself, you would say, I tried to do all of that when I first became a Christian, but then, things happened, and I became less, and less diligent in my pursuit of the task given me.  It is for this reason, that we have to be constantly aware of our task, and be in the constant pursuit of that task, we can not become complacent.  We as Christians need to be ever watchful.  Are you??

477th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 45 - 51 Con't.

Matthew 24: 45 - 51; Luke 12: 42 - 48; Continued 3rd Post on this passage.
In this passage, Jesus contrasts two stewards.  One faithful, that takes care of all that he has been put in charge of, and continues to take care of things until his master comes back.  The other is a faithful steward, who like the first, did what his master commanded for a while, then Jesus said the steward started to believe the master would never come back.  Jesus told us that He would return, that was over 2,000 years ago.  Do you think He will return??  Depending on what your answer to that question was, tells you what kind of steward you are.  If you find yourself on the wrong side, there is still time to make the corrections in your life.  You have to make the correction or you too will have the same fate as the second steward in this passage.  The "Once saved always Saved" crowd would contend that the second never was saved to begin with.  Is this really what Jesus was saying here?  I don;t think so.  I see I am running out of space again and there is way more to this passage we need to look at.

476th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Conerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 45 - 51 Con't.

Matthew 24:45 - 51; Luke 12: 42 - 48.  Second post on this passage.
This passage will bring a lot of controversy at our weekly Bible study, when we will actually look at this passage.  There are a lot of opinions concerning the word Apostasy, Jesus finally weighs in on the subject.
There are a lot of Christians that believe "Once Saved, Always Saved", and will not listen to another opinion.  There are teachers that teach this same thing, and they will drag you to a lot of Bible verses that seem to back their opinion.  The problem is this, is that really, what the Bible says, or are these a few passages taken out of context to prove a false point??  Once you are saved, you can not lose it, why does the Bible have so many passages about staying in the race and to cross the finish line, persevere to the end, or never quit??  It seems if once saved always saved is correct, there would be no need for these other passages at all.  We will be looking at what Jesus had to say on this subject, I contend that Jesus Christ, being the Son of God, and the Messiah, appointed by God the Father to this position, has earned the right to comment on anything in the Bible.  And we should listen to what He says.

475th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 45 - 51.

Matthew 24: 45 - 51; Luke 12: 42 - 48.  1st Post on this passage.
Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?  Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.  Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.  But if that servant says in his heart, "My master is delaying his coming," and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.  And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with few.  For everyone to whom much is is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask more.
This was spoken by Jesus very close to the end of His earthly ministry.  This is continuation of the Olivet Discourse, spoken by Jesus on the Mount of Olives, just short time before His crucifixion.  This passage is long so will continue next post.

474th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 42 - 44 Con't. .

Matthew 24: 42 - 44; Luke 12: 35 - 40, 3rd. Post.
Jesus after telling the disciples that He would come again, told them that they should be working at spreading the Good News of the Gospel, and not looking for His return.  This is what caused Paul to write 2nd Thessalonians.  Apostle Paul wrote both letters to the Thessalonians, to correct misunderstandings that developed after Paul had taught about End Times.  The First letter dealt with the misunderstandings that arose concerning the plight of the recent departed (dead) believer's, and the fact that Jesus had not returned before their death.  The Second letter was written, because some of the believer's sold their belongings, and went up to the mountains that surrounded the City of Thessalonica, to wait for the return of Jesus Christ.  We as believer's are commanded to spread the Good News to every creature, throughout the world until He comes.  This is our primary job; not to sit around and discuss when Jesus will come again.  We are studying it here because we are learning about what Jesus Said, and how to apply it to our lives.

473rd Post Jesus Said On Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 42 - 44.

Matthew 24: 42 - 44; Luke 12: 35 - 40;  2nd Post.
The first verse of this passage should remind you of the Command given By God to Moses for the first Passover.  Then Jesus builds on this theme, by saying they (we) are to watchful for His Return.  Jesus says we are to be ready for His return.  I believe this is another place where misunderstandings could take place.  The early believer's thought Jesus would return very soon.  It has been over 2,000 years, since Jesus ascended into Heaven, and we know that His return has not been as close as the early believer's thought.  This is where we have an advantage over the early believer's.  When Jesus spoke these words, the Scriptures that were written were only those that dwelt with the Old Testament.  Copies of the Scriptures were not readily available, so checking the Scriptures was almost impossible.  They had to rely on their memory, to base their beliefs.  If you continue to refer to the rest of this passage, you will notice than when Jesus said "we would not know what watch, or time He will come again."

472nd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Conerning End Times Con't. - Luke 12: 35 - 40.

Luke 12: 35 - 40; Matthew 24: 42 - 44.
Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.  Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.  Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.  And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are the servants.  But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.  Therefore you also be ready, foe the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Jesus spoke these words toward the end of His earthly ministry.  This is continuation of the Olivet Discourse.  Continued next post.

471st Post Jesus Said... "He is Risen: He is Risen Indeed!!!" My Comments

"He is Risen:  He is Risen Indeed!!!"  This was the phrase that resounded within the Christian community when news of the Risen Christ grew.  When we say this phrase today, we acknowledge what the early Christians said and thought on that historic day.  Jesus said that "He would lay His Life down and take it up again!"  How is that possible?  The only explanation that works is He could not unless He Was and Is God!!  This is the only explanation that makes sense.  But How could He Rise??  This is a good question, only God can forgive and do away with sin.  Jesus died after paying our sin debt, and paying the price of the curse that Adam, had brought into the world.  The Bible teaches "That the wages of sin is Death!"  Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice, and to be unblemished; being unblemished death could no longer hold Him.  When Jesus rose, He became the First fruit of the New Covenant made with the disciples in the upper room.  Jesus rose in His new Resurrected Body, we will be united with our resurrected bodies at the time of His (Jesus) Second coming.  As Jesus conquered the grave so will we as believer's!!!  "He is Risen:  He is Risen Indeed!!!"

470th Post Jesus Good Friday - My Comments 3rd Post.

In the last post we had just transferred the blood from the lamb to the scapegoat, that was to be driven outside the camp and destroyed.  I asked what this had to do with Good Friday??  The answer is everything!  Jesus when on the cross cried out "My God! My God! Why hast Thou foresaken Me!"  This was spoken by Jesus at the time the sin of the whole world from the time of Adam until He comes again, was heaped upon Him.  God the Father could not bear to look on His Son in this condition, this is why the earth was dark from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  God did not leave His Son, but only turned His face, so He would not have to see His Son in as a cursed person.  Jesus had to become sin, in order to get rid of it.  This also is not taught enough today.  It took two animals to cover what Jesus took on and destroyed.  Understanding this is to understand why Jesus could make the claim "I AM the Resurrection and the Life!  No One comes to the Father except through Me!"  Jesus is the only God to have done this, and this is why He is called the "KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS!!"  Before continuing my posts on Matthew chapter 24, I will post my thoughts regarding Easter.

469th Post Jesus Good Friday - My Comments 2nd Post.

In our last post the unblemished lamb received the sinner's sins and had its throat cut and the blood collected. Before taking this blood into the Temple to be sprinkled on the "Mercy Seat", the priest had another animal ready.  Why is this necessary??  When the sinner transferred his sin to the lamb, the lamb then became sin, and would no longer be the unblemished lamb, so the sin then had to be transferred to make it unblemished again.  This is the part of the Good Friday message that I believe is not taught enough today.  Before the priest could take the blood into the Temple he must first transfer the sin again, this is where the scapegoat comes in.  The scapegoat represents the curse of the sin.  The priest would then wipe his blood stained hands from the lamb onto the back of the scapegoat, thus transferring the sin off the lamb and onto the goat.  The goat would then be driven out of the camp, and destroyed.  This is what was done in the Old Testament, but what does this have to do with Jesus and Good Friday??  Hopefully I will be able to answer that next post.

468th Post Jesus and Good Friday - My Comments.

Good Friday, my comments.  This day is observed all over the world, but do we really know why??  Everyone knows that this is the day Jesus was to die on the cross.  But why??  You may have hear this word "propitiation", but may not be familiar with "expiation".  Jesus satisfied both of these at the same time.  If you have a Bible Dictionary, you should look these two words up.  I am going to explain why both of these things had to happen to make Jesus' death the perfect sacrifice.  First the word propitiation, means to substitute, Jesus satisfied this by taking out sin and dying in our place and paying the price.  This only half way saves us.  How can this be?? You ask.  To answer this we need to look at the sin offerings offered in the Old Testament.  To have a "propitiation sacrifice" you needed an unblemished lamb.  The sinner would stand next to his sheep and put his hand on the lamb and confess his sin to the priest; thus transferring the sin from the sinner to the lamb.  The priest would then slit the lamb's throat and catch the blood and collect it to be offered in the Temple and sprinkled on the "Mercy Seat".  I have run out of room for this post so I will continue next post.

467th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End of the Age Con't. - Matthew 24: 32 - 41 Con't.

Matthew 24: 32 - 41; Mark 13: 28 - 32; Luke 17: 26 - 27, 21: 29 - 33, 34 - 35, Continued 5th Post.
We were talking about the days of Noah in our last post.  Now we look at something Jesus said that has been the subject of many different interpretations.  Like them I will tell you what I think will happen.  Jesus said "Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left  Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left."  What does this mean?  Jesus talks about collecting in His Parables, the "Wheat and Tares", comes to mind.  The farmer sows the seed, and his enemy sows tares (weeds) in the farmer's field at night.  It was not until the plants had matured before the farmer saw he had the weeds, he could not pull the weeds before harvest because he might cause injury to his wheat crop so he waited until harvest.  Then at harvest time, the farmer collects the tares (weeds) first, and burns them; then he collects the wheat and puts it in his barn.  Like the tares (weeds), the evil will be taken first, leaving the righteous (wheat) to be collected last.  I will stop posting on this subject to insert posts about the significance of Good Friday.  Then I will resume Matthew chapter 24.

466th Post Jesus Predicyions Con't. - Predictions Concerning the End of the Age Con't. - Matthew 24: 32 - 41 Con't.

Matthew 24: 32 - 41; Mark 13: 28 - 32; Luke 17: 26 - 27, 21: 29 - 33, 34 - 35; Continued 4th Post.
The last sign we looked at was Heaven and Earth passing away.  We will now be looking at what Jesus said about the time He would return.  Jesus said that the world will be like the days of Noah.  Many of us know the story concerning Noah's ark, but there is more to the story.  The key lies in why God sent the flood, and why Noah survived.  God saved Noah because he found favor in the eyes of the Lord.  The Flood killed all living things that lived on the land.  Man in his perversion had polluted even the animals.  God could only find 8 people worth saving throughout the world at that time.  This description is very bleak, and shows the world at that time was very dark.  We can look around the earth today, and see the world is dark with sin, but it is still not as dark as it was at the time of Noah.  This is another sign we must consider when talking about End Times and when we think it will occur.  Jesus said the people were eating and drinking, and taking in marriage when Noah entered the ark.  Jesus was saying that the flood found the world unaware of the flood coming; so it will be when Jesus comes the Second Time.  I have run out of space again, continued next post.

465th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 32 - 41 Con't.

Matthew 24: 32 - 41; Mark 13: 28 - 32; Luke 17: 26 - 27, 21:29 - 33, 34 - 35, Continued 3rd Post.
In all of chapter 24 Jesus has been telling the disciples what was going to happen and the signs that will appear before these things come to be.  When Jesus says this generation will see these things.  The generation He is talking about is the one that sees these things happen, not the generation that Jesus spoke these words to necessarily.  This is also where a lot of misunderstanding takes place.  Jesus always told us to watch the signs, not try to put the signs in some kind of order.  This also is where misunderstandings happen.  Armed with this information, we will now continue our look at what Jesus said.  "Heaven and earth will pass away but My words will never pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, nor even the angels of heaven, but My Father only."  How can this be, that Jesus being God, doesn't know the time Himself.  This is also a place for misunderstanding to occur.  This is what makes God Sovereign.  These mysteries, we may not know until after we are dead, and by that time "who cares!!"  Continued next post.

464th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. -Matthew 24: 32 - 41 Con't.

Matthew 24: 32 - 41; Mark 13: 28 - 32; Luke 17: 26 - 27, 21: 29 - 33, 34 - 35;  Continued 2nd post.
Jesus has been telling the disciples in this chapter about the things that will happen.  It is very important to pay close attention to what Jesus says and how He says it.  I believe this is where misinterpretations begin.  Look at the first line of this passage: "When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know summer is near."  Jesus said "near" not "here".  What does near mean??  The meaning of this word we could debate all night long, and not reach a common meaning.  This is another place misinterpretation can take place.  To help to understand these better, I believe you need to look at all Jesus said on this subject.  To do that we have been looking at what Jesus said in His other passages, and what He says in the Parables about End Times.  All of Jesus' Parables will be looked at at the end of our study.  The ones that deal with End Times, I will make you aware of them at that time.  I see I am running out of space again, and have not said much of anything.  I believe what I said is important, to understand why there are so many different interpretations of these words of Jesus.

463rd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. Matthew 24: 32 - 41.

Matthew 24: 32 - 41; Mark 13: 28 - 32; Luke 17: 26 - 27, 21: 29 - 33, 34 - 35.
Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.  So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near-  at the doors!  Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.  But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.  Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
This was spoken by Jesus very close to the end of His earthly ministry.  This is in addition to what we have already blogged on in the last three posts.

462nd Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning the End of the Age Con't. - Matthew 24: 29 - 31 Con't.

Matthew 24: 29 - 31; Mark 13: 24 - 27; Luke 21: 25 - 28, continued.
In the last post I was tying Jesus telling the people living in Jerusalem to be prepared for flight before the tribulation comes, with the carcass and the eagles will gather.  The fact that this prophecy was not completely fulfilled, leaves the door open for another tribulation to come again.  This coming tribulation, will be worse than the tribulation Jerusalem lived through when the Romans destroyed the City of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D.  What did Jesus mean by "where the carcass is there the eagles will gather"?  I believe Jesus was talking about the period between the destruction of Jerusalem and this up coming tribulation.  If you look at history when the "little horn" of the 3rd Kingdom tried to destroy the Jews and God, the Maccabees came to the rescue.  When the Romans sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple, no one rose up rescue Jerusalem.  In this passage Jerusalem is the carcass the eagles are gathering around.  And the eagles are the nations bent on destroying not only Jerusalem, but Their God as well.  God made a covenant with Abraham, saying that no matter what Abraham or his offspring did, God would keep His part of this covenant.  The history of Israel since the Romans, and especially since She became a Nation are proof that God keeps His Word.

461st Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 29 - 31.

Matthew 24: 29 - 31;  Mark 13: 24 - 27; Luke 21: 25 - 28.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  Then the sign of the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
This was spoken by Jesus just before He was to be crucified.  This is the next part of Jesus' Olivet Discourse.
This part of this discourse has been the subject to a lot of speculation.  What I will say now, can not be proved either; until Jesus comes again; so I guess this will go with all the other speculation on this passage.  Earlier in this passage Jesus told people to be ready for flight.  When the Romans destroyed Jerusalem, this was fulfilled, for the Christians living in Jerusalem.  During that tribulation, the sun was not darkened, and the moon did not give up its light.  This means this prophecy is still in force.  In the previous post I talked about the carcass and there the eagles will gather.  I have run out of room again so will continue next post.
