495th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various other Predictions Con't. - Luke 23: 28 - 31.

Luke 23: 28 - 31.
Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, "Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!" Then they will begin to say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!" For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?
This was spoken by Jesus on the way that leads to Golgotha, the day of His crucifixion. The women of Jerusalem were weeping for Jesus, as He was on His way to die. Jesus tells the women not to weep for Him, but to weep for themselves. Jesus was looking 40 years into the future, when Titus and the Roman Army would destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. When Jesus made the statement that they would begin to say to the mountains "Fall on us!" and to the hills "Cover us!", this is to remind the people of Jerusalem that they have come under siege before and will again; because of their unbelief. Jerusalem becomes the thing she hates worse, during sieges, food becomes very scarce, and they will eat what the abhor to stay alive. It is in this despair that the phrases will be uttered that are mentioned above about mountains falling and hills covering. God loves Jerusalem, and will deal with it in His Time and in His way. It will be interesting to see how everything will play out. No matter what happens, God is still on the Throne!
