473rd Post Jesus Said On Predictions Con't. - Predictions Concerning End Times Con't. - Matthew 24: 42 - 44.

Matthew 24: 42 - 44; Luke 12: 35 - 40;  2nd Post.
The first verse of this passage should remind you of the Command given By God to Moses for the first Passover.  Then Jesus builds on this theme, by saying they (we) are to watchful for His Return.  Jesus says we are to be ready for His return.  I believe this is another place where misunderstandings could take place.  The early believer's thought Jesus would return very soon.  It has been over 2,000 years, since Jesus ascended into Heaven, and we know that His return has not been as close as the early believer's thought.  This is where we have an advantage over the early believer's.  When Jesus spoke these words, the Scriptures that were written were only those that dwelt with the Old Testament.  Copies of the Scriptures were not readily available, so checking the Scriptures was almost impossible.  They had to rely on their memory, to base their beliefs.  If you continue to refer to the rest of this passage, you will notice than when Jesus said "we would not know what watch, or time He will come again."
