494th Post Jesus Predictions Con't. - Various Other Predictions Con't. - Luke 22: 31 - 32, 34.

Luke 22: 31 - 32, 34; Matthew 26: 34; Mark 14: 30.
Simon, Simon!  Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.  But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.  I tell you Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.
This was spoken by Jesus on the night of His betrayal, just hours before it would come true.  Notice that Jesus calls this disciple by both of his names.  The Bible does this a lot, to help us understand the situation.  When the Bible calls this disciple as "Simon", this disciple is doing something or going to do something contrary to the will of God.  When this disciple remembers who he follows, his name changes to "Peter" (the rock).  Notice Jesus warns this disciple that he will make some bad decisions, but he will return to the Lord again.  When this happens Peter is asked to strengthen the brethren.  Notice that Peter sinned, but then was reinstated, as if he never left the fellowship.  This is a very hard teaching for us, as Christians, we are taught to forgive, but it is very hard to practice it.
